As many of you know I am a huge football fan.  I even played a lot (full pads), in little league and early High School.  I must have gotten it from my Dad.  Here is his Senior High School Yearbook Football Photo from 1955.  Yeah, he was a clown just like me.

So, check this great film out .....

Trailer for the film on YouTube:

Oliver Stone shows how awesome his editing skills are, once again, only this time he "tackles" the world of professional football.  He takes a gamble with the cast, by casting NFL football players and personalities in various roles in the film. It is a huge gamble that pays off in the end.

Stone manages to convey this idea of a war going on the football field by inter-cutting a lot of football footage with gladiators fighting to the death.  The idea that it is a battlefield shows the brutality and the beauty of this great sport.  This is still an amazing piece of work.  The acting is amazing and so is the story, albeit a little bit far-fetched.  It works though, because it reduces the whole idea to that of a cartoon and shows how fully grown men can act like children when millions of dollars are at stake, but in the end it is a grown-ups business. - Phil
