Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977)

Sadly, today is Pluto Demoted Day. That's right: the day commemorating when scientists destroyed the Planet Pluto by classifying it as a dwarf planet (instead of a full-fledged, regular "planet" of our Solar System). Since we're in the business of destroying planets, here's a little film about a space station that can blow up a planet in a single shot...

Radioland Murders (1994)

Happy National Radio Day! Let's celebrate with one of the best - but often-overlooked - movies about the golden age of radio...

Radioland Murders is one of my all-time favorite movies. One of my favorite stories regarding this movie involves Rosemary Clooney - who sings "That Old Feeling" onscreen in the film. A buddy of mine was meeting Ms. Clooney via work and asked me if I had anything I wanted her to autograph. Of course, I did: my Radioland Murders poster! So, he took it and faithfully rolled out the poster infront of her when he met her. When he asked her to sign it for me, she replied, "I don't think I was in that movie." My friend smiled and said, "If Chris says you were in this movie, trust me. You were in this movie." Clooney smiled and said, "Oh, that's right. I sang." And she promptly signed the poster.

Here's the trailer...

Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)

Film366.com decided that we would honor all the Star Trek movies to celebrate Star Trek's 50th Anniversary this year.  We at Film366.com have mentioned before that not all of the movies picked this year are complete gems.  Some are just picked, because of their imprint on popular culture, cult following, film history implications or something that could be considered an important film foot-note.  This film is one of those, for as bad as a reception that this film received back in 1979, this one marks an important part in Star Trek and film history, because it was the first ..................

Allures (1961)

Worldwide Art Day was just a few days ago, so we figured we'd offer some free art here with Film366.com's original (and probably the first ever) video recommendation for an experimental film...

Interested in seeing more free art? On some Sundays you can visit various art museums around the country for free! Phoenix, New York and Chicago have art museums that offer FREE SUNDAYS (or "Pay As You Wish" for those feeling guilty about soaking up culture without paying for it). Here's a few links about art museums you can attend today for nil:

PHOENIX: http://www.azcentral.com/story/entertainment/arts/2015/11/17/phoenix-art-museum-launch-free-second-sundays-2016/75882808/

NEW YORK (HARLEM): http://www.studiomuseum.org/visit

CHICAGO: https://www.timeout.com/chicago/museums/depaul-art-museum

Original art work by Clare Mich, Age 6.

Philly Art Lovers, be sure to visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art or The Barnes Foundation the first Sunday of the month for a FREE/Pay As You Wish visit.

PMA: https://www.phillyfunguide.com/kids/pay-what-you-wish-sundays-at-philadelphia-museum-of-art

Barnes: http://www.barnesfoundation.org/visit/philadelphia/free-first-sundays

But before you head off to the museums...watch the whole film of Allures right here!

Jordan Belson's Allures is hard to catch online. One day it's on Vimeo, next day it's not. One day it's on a Russian website, the next...not. One day on YouTube... you get the idea. Here's an embedded video of Allures that's good today, and hopefully still playable by the time you read this...
