Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (1979)

This day in film and TV history...

Carl Macek, the man instrumental in bringing Japanese animation to the USA, passed away on this day in 2010.

One of his many great achievements was the import of Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro. Here's our video recommendation - and first-ever ANIMATED - Film366 production...

Special thanks to Josh Taback for creating those drawings of yours truly and trusting me to animate them.

I did my best, Josh.

Here is the trailer for Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro...

Carl Macek is a hero of mine that I place on the same level as George Lucas. While attending WCU to get my Masters, I did a paper on Carl Macek's most successful anime endeavor, Robotech, and presented it during the 6th Annual Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Graduate Research Symposium at the Dixon Center in Harrisburg, PA.

An audio recording of that presentation is at this link:

And here is the Cliff Hanger Video Game clip - featuring footage from Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro - that I mentioned in our Film366 video recommendation...

This little guy at a local car dealership always reminds me of Lupin III.

Sadly, I no longer own this awesome Lupin III shirt which I purchased in Venice, Italy.
But you get the idea: I love Lupin III.
